1989 740 GL Very Poor Running Situation 700 1989

I have a situation where my 740 starting dying at stoplights and would go into what I feel is the limp home mode. It would run no faster that 1500 rpm when in drive, and very poorly at that. It will start-up when cold and run fair for a few minutes before it starts acting stupid. I even drove it about a half mile and it was running ok then went into the L/H mode. When it is warm it goes right to it. It does it 100% of the time, therefore at present it is not useable. I have a couple of spare A.M.M's and it doesn't make much difference with either. I plugged in an ECU from a later 240 model and it didn't apppear to make much difference either. I unplugged the Oxygen sensor and coolant temp sensore each at different times and that didn't change much either. I checked the fuel pressure reg, changed the throttle switch, and even changed the in tank fuel pump all without making much of a difference. I went through most of the F. I. electrical checks in my Bentley manual, and turned up nothing. Another weird thing is that when all componets are plugged up, I am not registering any trouble codes during the trial runs. This is not an EGR car by the way. The only thing I know to do now is to wait for my 89 245 to get home from college, I can then try the ECU out of it.

Any ideas?? Items I have missed??
