ByPass Surgery being done on 86 740 700 1986

The addition of the voltmeter to the instrument panel of my 86 740 SW plus the replacement of the ignition switch must have moved the burned out wire clump behind the radio enough to short out the dash lights. After much agony and removal of various bits of dash components, I finally saw the problem!! It was a burned and melted ground wire from the cigarette lighter. It apparently overheated and melted all the way to grounding bar.
I am now in the process of tracing and replacing the wires. Will report tomorrow after bypass is done.
Gotta eat dinner now (as per wife).
thanks,
el raidman
