Preserving Corona wheels 200

Here goes another one. I also saw a set of Corona wheels at the "pick and pull" that were in very good condition for $80 for a set of four. What is the best way to preserve the existing finish on them and avoid repainting in the future. I would probably clean them up good with a mild soap solution, but was wondering is there anything I should spray on the finish to preserve the finish from breaking down. Should I spray on a clearcoat? Any siggestions woul be appreciated.
