Hi everyone,
My 1995 940 (Bosch LH EZK; BF 230; no turbo)won't start, even after my best attempt to tackle everything I can find in the FAQs. It cranks no problem, sputters, and, at best, runs for 4-5 seconds like only two cylinders are firing, then dies. This much I know:
-I have no fault codes displaying nor CEL
-I have good spark at all four plugs (removed, inspected, and cleaned distributor anyway)
-I appear to have good fuel pressure at the rail (relieved pressure, cranked, then had pressure again.)
-I cleaned the throttle body and PCV system, verifying that the TPS and cold start solenoid all are functioning.
The no-start situation began when I tried to start it after it had been sitting for over a week during some very cold Indiana winter days (well below freezing, but I'm not sure the weather's a factor). After many attempts and tons of cranking, I finally got it to start. Worked fine for three days--long enough to get my muffler fixed after three months of sounding like a Sherman tank--then it wouldn't start again a few days later.
The FAQs and responses have helped me give my beauty new life, so thanks in advance to anyone with time and inclination to reply. Russell Y., I know you're on here, but feel no need to respond; you're my Volvo mechanic, so if I can't fix this, I'm bringing it to you!
Cheers and Happy New Year all!
