Is the P1800E much better than the S ? 1800

Hi,

I'm desperate to make a sports car out of a p1800 for spirited street driving but nothing ridiculous. I'm thinking about a ~170 bhp EFI B20 with individual throttle bodies etc.
P1800S versions are around, but I can't find an E which I think will be better because of the rear disc brakes and better/upgradeable LSD rear end. I do however prefer the better/classic looking guages and dash of the S version.
My question is, are the brakes and rear end really worth holding out for, will they make the car that much better?
