New Dash! Gauge Swap project 200

So I scored a dash at the local pull yard. I waited until the half-off day so the Dash was only $5.50! There's only 1 small gash (about an inch or two) on the pass. side versus my current dash with several large gashes. So I want to put this in but where I live is cold so I'm going to wait for a warm day.
Also, my current setup of the two gauge pods just right of the instrument cluster features a small clock and a non-Volvo voltmeter. I've been wanting to swap these for a Volvo Voltmeter and a Volvo Oil press gauge. This would give it a more "official look" and I could just use the clock on my CD deck.
I'm no wiring expert but have experimented with various success.

Question #1: There's one of those rectangular vents in the middle of my dash but not in the new one. Is this a problem?
They're the same year(88) which is odd.

Question #2: There isn't any problem with rocking a big Tach without the small clock?

Question #3: Does this plan (50mm Oil pressure/50mm Volt) sound like a good idea and is there anything I should keep in mind?

Question #4:If I'm replacing my dash is there any thing else I could look over/ inspect while the dash is out?

thanks much and brick on!
