This is a 1990 760 w/B230FT and 225k on the odo.
Today, I took the car out and about ten minutes into my trip, the car's engine just quit. Like I'd turned the key off. Put it in neutral and, still coasting, it started back up. Same thing happened about five minutes later. It was somewhat harder to start the second time. Took four or five tries, but it finally started and I made it to my destination about 10 minutes later with no additional problems.
I know about the fuel injection relay on the fender well and how it can be swapped out with the relay next to it, but what I'm wondering is -- is it likely that this relay would fail intermittently?
Any other likely culprit? Distributor, maybe? We used to have an '88 760 and the hall sensor actually fell apart in that car. The wife barely made it home, in that case cuz the car would barely run.
I'll admit I haven't a clue as to what's causing this. I know it's tough to diagnose an intermittent condition, so even if I took it to my Volvo guy I might not have much luck.
Best,
Michael
