can one pull too hard on a frozen door / door handle? 200

Friends,

Made the mistake (although it is cleaner) of running my '93 244 through the car wash this evening (in Ohio, USA, where it's below 10 degrees).

Alas, the left rear door froze and won't open (I assume the right front and right rear froze too, but did not check them). Driver's door: sticky, but OK.

I had some stuff on the rear seat I wanted so I began (foolishly?) yanking on the door handle. No budge. I pulled quite hard too.

Could I have damaged something? Like the metal around the handle or hinge? Or is the design of the handle/latch made so well as to prevent this kind of damage? I don't know what I'm trying to say.

Has anyone ever broken a handle off in this way?

Thanks...
