So just a few days ago I was bragging how nice the Mrs. car was running after I gave her a nice tuneup and cleaned out the EGR, flame trap, throttle body, etc, etc. Took her (the car) to work and low and behold the "Check Engine" light came on. Pulled codes, #2 - nada. #6: 4-1-3. Looked it up in bently/hanes - couldn't find nuthin, thank God for Brickboard, again..."EGR temp sensor signal missing or faulty". So my three questions are:
1. What, is there a special Bently/Hanes edition that has the rest of the (codes) story? Or is there a secret society that holds back on the meaning of unpublished secret codes?
2. Now what do I do? "cleaned out EGR" means I removed it and checked for valve operation, sprayed some carb cleaner in there (but not in the diaphragm), and cleaned it up a little but didn't get real physical w/ it other than trying to take the nipples off to add some neverseize (that didn't work out- couldn't get them off).
3. Code erase procedure? I tried to reset the codes to see if it was a fluke, but could not. Put plug in numba 6 and pushed button for more than 5 secs, LED came on for 3-4 secs and then went out. But the code is still there.
Thanks for your help in advance!
