83' 240 wagon dead on trying to start :( 200 1983

Greetings,

First, this board is awesome... So much help painted on this forums canvas has got me alot farthur with understanding and repairing my vehical. Yet not im at a point where I have no idea what to do. And in lew of my next step of going to the garage, im seeking the plethra of advice you einstien like brickboarders carry within...

Ok, to the point. The wagon had been running fine untill a few days ago. I had noticed a little bit of iregularity(shudder) in shifting and engine idle, yet it really didnt effect the overall performance as it was very sparingly.
Then, It was a cold day (4 deg. f) and upon startup with about 1/4 of a tank of gas the engine ran for about 2 seconds and abruptly died. To no avail even now that things have warmed back up, she still wont get running.
-turns over when keys engauged
-checked all the fuses and contacts -ok
-checked FPRs and resoldered -ok (and can hear the pumps whirring)
-gota a jump from a friend just in case a cold battery was the problem -wasnt
-replaced sparks, oil filter and oil (2 weeks ago when actually runing)
-rough overlook of lines and hoses, and electrical -seem ok
Now im no pro mechanic, but im stumped, as is my close friend who lent the jump start. Ive sence put about 4 more gallons of gas in just in case the age of the car deemed possible bad hoses for low gas in the tank, yet this brought no help either.

Thanks for your time in checking this issue out!

Joe K.
