Yes, you do have to clean the flame trap on a 960. 900

I was wondering why there as a build up of mayonnaise on my wife's '97 960 The oil would get dirty quickly too. There was never one on my '93 960. I put it down to her short trips. On my '93 I used to check the flame trap regularly but it was always clean.
I checked the '97 over the weekend, guess what, about 80% blocked with gunk in the plastic flame stop piece.

Cleaned it up, no more oil smells or drips after an oil change (Rotella 5w-40) and a hard highway charge.

Dan
