Neutral Safety Switch - 1992 740 Turbo Wagon 700 1992

I am attempting to replace the Neutral Safety Switch on my 1992 740 Turbo. I can see the switch (with a small mirror) under the plastic plate that indicates the gears (P, R, N, D, 2, 1) and have an idea how it is fastened in there. The trouble is I cannot for the life of me see how the plastic indicator plate is loosened and removed before this. It looks like the whole thing is just one piece of molded plastic and I cannot see how to remove the Neutral Safety from the middle of it. Does anyone have any ideas ?
