AMM connector problem? 83 245 205k 200 1983

Air Mass meter has been replaced twice. Airbox is forced open so not a hot air issue. Will drive for a couple of months with car idling great, then gradually it will begin idling rough until it won't hold an idle when cold and it runs very rough. I have on several occasions disconnected and reconnected AMM harness, and it starts idling/running great! How do I test the AMM harness? Should I cut back the sheathe and see if wires are corroded? Anything else this could be that I am not looking at? Oh yea, This has always been a So California car, the wiring I have looked at in the past have not shown any deterioration

Thanks in advance, your comments and suggestions have saved me on more than one occasion!

-Gary
