High Pitched sound on the freeway 200

I am a new 1993 volvo 240 driver, and I am very happy with the car. I posted another post asking for advice, and the response was great. Thanks for making me feel welcome.

Now I have question #2.

I just made my maiden voyage in the car. A road trip to Seattle from Portland so pretty short (170 miles one way). I noticed a sound however and I cant seem to pinpoint it. I have seen this question on several of the message boards on other models, but not sure on the 240.

I have a very high pitched noise when traveling down the freeway that comes and goes every few minutes. It was so high that I simply thought it was radio noise - high pitched interference type noise. I am not convinced of that now since I cant seem to get it to change. It seems to come and go every few minutes and does change in pitch based on speed (so it goes down as I slow, and completely disappears at about 40MPH or below). I of course have all kinds of thoughts on bearings, etc, but would love some of your advice on what it could be.

Thanks!
