85 244 N/A, 329,000 miles
at 318,000 economy dipped from average of 26.3 MPG to 21.5 MPG over the next 5,000 miles
so i commenced to replacing things:
Air Filter; Cap, Rotor & Plugs (wires have about 40K miles on them), Oxygen Sensor
Vacuum Hoses, Transmission flush, rear differential oil change
near onset of cold this winter it needed to be very warm to run okay, even in park it would not get above idle without dying - so cleaned the throttle body and it ran fine
about 1,000 miles ago i did a BG44K fuel treatment - no change in MPG
last weekend did Sea Foam through intake and Techron through full fuel tank - idled fine and revved up while cold and in park, but was sluggish from 1800 - 2500 RPM while cold or even slightly cool from a 5 minute stop for coffee - went through the treated tank and another half tank of gas
So i guessed that i may have gotten the fuel lines gummed up a bit on their way to clean and that they need another can of techron to get the rest out
I added another can of techron to about 7 gallons of tank - drove 10 miles home, parked overnight, drove about 7 miles this morning and it is really bogging down when i try to accellerate or go up a hill, if i give it more throttle than it can use it bogs a bit and then pops through the air intake
ANY IDEAS? - should i pull the injectors and clean em, pull injectors from a new model at the bone yard and clean them, take it in for service
I have a great mechanic 10 miles from work, but 40 miles from home, and he charges what he is worth - i could afford and be willing to part with a $300 bill there, but would rather pay as little as possible
