fuel pressure regulator, e-code lights, temperature gauge, sway bar questions 200 1990

1990 240
hi all, i know this has come up recently before, but i had another question about the frp. first, the sniff test - do you sniff the vacuum hose or the fpr? do you do it with the engine warm or cold, or does it matter?

i got my e-code lights this week (used from europe), CAN i plug them in directly for now or must i upgrade the relays and wiring and do they plug directly, i WILL do it later, i would just like to get them in as one of my current lights won't aim nicely and the other is super yellow/cloudy.

took a trip from portland to san francisco, up the hills on the interstate not too steep but long (4th gear hills, i have a 5 speed manual) my temp gauge went up to near the red, actually about 3/16 to 1/8 inch away from the red but no farther. on the steep long hills of mt. tamalpais i really had no problems but those were 2nd gear hills. is this normal or is it possibly due to fpr issues or otherwise.

my mechanic had some turbo sway bars sitting around from his son's car and put them on our 240 for free after feeling the improvement, i'm wondering how much better the ipd bars are and if they are worth the much-larger-than-free cost?
