Hello and thanks for viewing my post. I'm almost at my wits end with this car. I own a '85 turbo 245, more specifically the b21ft with CIS. Yeah its not running too good. Heres the laundry list of problems thus far: in the morning at cold start-up theres not much hesitation from ignition to running. Actually runs rather smooth for the first 2-3 mins during warm-up (which i attributed to the cold start injector doing its job correctly.) After getting up to temp however, it will start stumbling and idling very erratic. I've tried to determine if theres any pattern to the rough spots and stumbling but it appears random. Even better occasionally it will stall and becomes even harder to start then, taking more time than the first initial start. So my commute usually goes the same: drives fine on the interstate, runs like crap in the city. Stumbles and shudders the entire way as soon as i come off the highway. Fast-forward to the drive home and it runs much worse, now with an added "pitter-putt" noise which sounds like a volkswagen. I also notice the turbo not getting up to full-boost when ive got the petal welded to the floor.
A bit of previous info: when i first bought the car last year it wouldnt idle. I assumed i fixed this by slightly adjusting the throttle linkage and the fuel-flow at the fuel distributor, along with all the usual tune-up bells and whistles. It actually ran quite well (even being able to achieve 15-17 mpg, which for a car its age i found to be not bad) until recently when i cleaned out the flametrap box. According to a forum post here, it recommended filling the box with purple-power and allowing to sit over night, which i did. It certainly cleaned it out (or so i assumed.) After that it started running like $#!+. I then promptly changed the oil, converting it to synthetic.
So anyone have any similar experiences like this or any recommendations as to where I might could atleast start my investigation. I dont have a bentley, only a chiltons which lazily recommends "checking the fuel system" to "CIS out of whack."
