Long story short, I've got three 740s, two 92 wagons, and a 90 turbo sedan. One of the wagons developed the "I'm about to blow" set of symptoms, eventually necessitating a head gasket. Now my other wagon is showing a small oil lead near the water pump area, and the 90 I just picked up for my son has a bit of oil in the same spot.
The first one ended up going 1400 bucks, when the harmonic pulley was shot too. I'm rethinking my strategy on these being great vehicles for the long haul here. If every 740 has to have the head gasket repair between 150-200K, I dunno. I s'pose once they're all three done I'd get a lot of good service, but this is gonna be a lot of money. I can't manage the work myself so must pay labor at 75.00 per hour. Sheesh!
