where to check the tranny fluid on an 86? 200

my 86 245 is a bit different than my 92 244, which had a special dipstick next to the engine under the hood to check the tranny fluid; this one (the 86) doesn't have that. so how do i check the fluid level? when i'm in OD it seems just a little bit weird, although it's probably fine. just wanna make sure.
