I was futzing around on my brother's (formerly my dad's) 1998 S90 yesterday and discovered a surprising amount of oil in the intake. There were puddles in the canyons of the accordion pipe and I could see a small pool in the bottom of the intake manifold (with the hose off). The flame trap was not clogged (obviously...that's where the oil came from).
The car does have a goofiness with cylinder 6...some PO dropped something metal in it. When my dad first got the car, I took the head off and had the cylinder six valves replaced and the head all spiffed up. The piston had a few small divots in it from whatever was dropped in it. Every now and again it throws a 0306 code (cylinder 6 misfire). It idles a bit lopey but off idle runs just fine.
Anyways, any thoughts? Is the oil just from excessive blow bye? I know I should probably do a compression test one of these days. Would a clogged oil separator cause this?
thanks, as always!
