Advice on soft glowing battery indicator light 200

Just some advice for anyone who is experiencing a slight glow on their battery light in the instrument cluster.

I've had all sorts of electric issues w/my 245- many having to do with my own incompetence and aftermarket wiring projects. Lately I've been regretting losing my digital hand voltmeter.
Most recently, my battery light in the cluster was glowing softly. Unlike past alternator failure where the light comes on and you have about ten miles or less to reach your destination before the bat dies-- this situation was only a slight glow.
Symptoms-
-No battery drain when off
-Instant glow of battery light when car is turned on
-intermittent glow(ie might occasionally turn off while driving)
-Battery light decreases in sync with accelerating(I don't know why this is but it was happening)
-No rapid power drain but a poor charge while running.

I checked my bat. contacts and they looked good.
Figured it was my alt or alt. wires so I simply wire-brushed terminals on alt as well as contacts and voila! My voltmeter reads a nice steady 14ish.
All this might be obvious for some but I hope it helps others.
Brick on!
