Well, I successfully took delivery today, driving Abby 1.5 hours back to Portland. Everything seemed to go ok, but I've got a few questions right off the bat.
First, I was closely watching the temperature gauge, and was doing 55-60 on the highway the entire time. The needle was just past vertical on the gauge, dancing what I considered alarmingly close to the red region. It never crossed over, but seemed a little higher than what would make me comfortable (about 5 mm from the red). Could a partial clog in the radiator reduce cooling efficiency? Should I worry?
Second, the gas gauge. When I started, it read totally full, which made sense because the seller said he filled it before I got there (really nice guy). After the 90 mile trip, I was almost into the red of the gauge. It appears it's divided up into 3 regions, 1/3 red reserve area, 1/3 green less than 1/2 a tank area, then 1/3 green above 1/2 tank region. I'm near the bottom of the middle green area, almost into the red. Could I really have used 2/3 of a tank on 90 miles? Does anyone know how many gallons these tanks can actually hold?
I'll have more questions later, I'm sure.
