Hi everyone, this morning on my way to work, I noticed a chirp under the hood that started getting louder and louder, by the time I got to work, it was a full on screech. My first thought, was that the turbo is going. It sounds, to my untrained ear, like the impeller is scraping the inside of the housing. I noticed no turbo stumble though. The screech gets higher with RPM increase and is barely noticeable at high RPM, but NASTY! (yes with an exclamation point) sounding at low RPM/idle. It happens in park and neutral as well. I am going to get it home this afternoon, and have a look at it. I'm going to inspect the PS pump and alternator, as well as the AC compressor. Is there a way to check to see if it's the turbo? Is there a way to verify if it's the transmission?
