Hi,
first off I wanted to thank everyone for their help with my no start problem. I changed the fuel pressure regulator and the spark plugs and it started up first try. It was one of the sweetest sounds I have ever heard and I guess that makes me a white belt in the ranks of DOY. I then changed the oil and oil filter and the car runs like a charm. So much thanks, I couldn't have done it without this site.
Well, I have had this odometer/ speedometer problem ever since I bought the car a month and a half ago. I used to think that the odometer would work when the speedometer wasn't working (which looking through the bentley manual would point to a electrical connection problem at the dash). However, I can't attest to this. What I can verify is that recently, when the speedometer stops working - so to will the odometer - actually, when the speedometer stopped working last time it was changing to 215,100 and the single digit zero stopped right in the middle. But there is no rhyme or reason as to what makes the speedometer work or not work (to the best of my observation) sometimes it works in the morning, other times it doesn't, sometimes it works in the cold, other times it doesn't, etc.
What I do know is that the two are directly connected, which (from the bentley manual) would point to the sensor on the rear axle. Any ideas.
the car is a 1989 volvo 240 dl station wagon with 215,100 (illegitimate miles).
Thanks,
Jimmy
