Hello All,
Dead battery today in Red Wagon. With the key off, I observed about 200 ma draw through Fuse 8 which handles interior lights, glove light, radio and central locking. I double-checked the glove light to ensure that's not the culprit. When I hook up my VOM to meter the current I hear the door motors energizing to lock.
This car was outfitted with a keyless entry before I got it some 4 years ago. The wiring in the driver's door panel looks OK as before I realized I had a dead battery, I was fiddling with a scratchy door speaker and thought I might have pinched a wire monkeying around. That does not appear to be the problem.
First question. Intuitively, what does 200 ma sound like?
Assuming it's the central locking, how might I go about troubleshooting the system? Should I disconnect the wiring for the keyless? Should I initially try to replace the relay? Note that I've not had a need to pull relays behind the climate control panel, so I'm a little leery of going that route unless thought necessary at this time.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
Marty Wolfson
