IPD Overdrive plate success!! Flame trap Valdez Oil leak mega improved!! 200

Woo HOOOO! I'd high 5 somebody but there is no one here but me.

I want to thank whomever it was who suggested the IPD bypass plate for my daughters 91 240 automatic....I've been driving it interstate here lately screaming along in 3rd gear, not too good.

This afternoon put in the plate (not nearly as ugly as I recall for some reason...12mm box wrench flipped upside down so it would swing just under the sheet metal.

I probed the ports with a WD40 plastic spray tip, and both were open. Even fired it up without to "purge" incase there was some blockage out of reach, and probably pumped out a 0.5L of tranny oil before I could shut her down. Double checked with a mirror, then installed the IPD plate ($43 shipped to my door using USPS). Fired her up and VIOLA the 4th gear is working again!!!!!!

Also, previous weekend I totally cleaned the cursed flame trap. It had the metal foil version, and I had one of the plastic drilled traps as a spare, so cleaned all, swapped her in, new vacuum line to manifold (for idle only, I presume), heck I even drilled out the brass fitting to make sure it had idle. END Result, is the massive Valdez like oil slick has been reduced to mere drips....not gone completely, but 90% at least reduced. Excellent!

Thanks to the folks here for their spot on tech. advice. Hell, I really am starting to like this car.....maybe I'll start looking for a Wagon to add to my SAAB stable. Any leads on a clean 91-93 240 wagon in Georgia :)

regards,

Duane in Cartersville GA.
