Charcoal canister removal- any reason to leave it on? 200 1989

Inspired by Joe Hearts "Maintenance for a man with no $$$" i was wondering if I can remove the charcoal canister located in front of the driver side tire and behind the cowl?

There are two hoses that seem to run to the intake manifold. Can I just plug the spots on the manifold?

Then there seems to be a third hose or something that goes off to never never land. Haven't traced that yet. Can I just plug this stuff and get rid of the thing?

The vacuum lines to the canister seem to be worthless at 20 years of age. I suppose the intake would gain a slight bit more vacuum from all this. Good? Bad?

thanks
