I've taken my 240 to two different Volvo dealerships and they can't fix it. In order to open the Drivers side Front door you have to isert the key an turn it then you can use the latch. Once your in the car to get out you have to pull up on the lock knob then pull the latch. They thought a pin was missing but can't find any missing parts. I have a 92 that I use a parts car and they told me to remove the door so they can sawp it. That seems a bit much but I've taken the door panel off and I can figure it out. It just started doign this. It's well lubed etc. I am at the point of thinking this may be a money pit car, but I am not sure. after the door thing I ahve to replace the exhaust .
