Pulsair FAQ's and Tasca! 900 1994

Hi All
I am considering replacing the Pulsair Valve as it appears to have failed allowing exhaust gases to feed continously back towards the airbox. Per the FAQ's it is only supposed to be opened at select times. Anyway I have obtained the following price info from Tasca Volvo.

"Matt: These parts have to be ordered by phone, they are not on the catalog, on this site. Valve # 3507160, 49.91. Hose (to check valves) # 1266666, 28.60. Hose (to air box) # 945751, 15.04 These are the discounted prices."

My question is as to one other comment in the FAQ's. It seems to be impying that the actual cause of the failure is within the two smaller stainless steel discs right off the manifold. That it is they, which get dirty and allow the unrestricted exhaust to flow backward? Thereby destroying the larger black plastic valve and hose going towards the airbox? I just dont want to invest $100 in new hoses and valve only to find I should have cleaned out the stainless steel discs, and have the new rubber destroyed as well. I guess I could just do away with the system but if I can figure this out I am inclined to repair.
Matt
PS Here's pix of the set-up for those curious.
