cat broken causing vibrations follow up 200 1986

this is a follow up to my earlier post.

story:
dropped my header pipe about 3 ft while replacing tranny. the rest of the pipe was connected by the rear hangers. so the cat didn't hit the ground, but the header hit hard.

problem after assy:
the car vibrates more than normal at about 2200 rpm, when at normal driving temp (hot). (feels like bad motor/tranny mounts). drives fine for miles before warming up. (that was a hint)

found out it's cat:
i drove over some speed bumps rather quickly, back end bounced and when i sped up, the car had larger vibrations. it seems that the bump rearranged some of the already broken cat pieces.

when i hit another speed bump, it went back to having larger than normal vibration, but not as large as over the bump.

resolution:
i don't know how many pieces are clogged in the rear muffler, but at least i found the problem. from the cat back.

aftermarket cat called schultz installed about 2 years ago.

also found out the aw70 tranny is solid, it fell off the tranny jack <12 inches, but the tranny drives great, smooth.

regards,
byron golden
