a question for old and (young) hot rodders out there 200

is it possible to fly cut pistons on a 960 to prevent valve damage should the timing belt break?

i only ask because i know nothing of such skills and would like to learn as a sweet late model 960 has come my way with bent valves in otherwise superlative condition.

i know i could simply fix the head and do the belt.

nevertheless this affords me the chance to experiment a little......if its possible.

please if it is and you know provide a bit more help than just saying, yes you can do it.

i do have a neighbor and friend who is a master tool maker doing one of kind stuff for starrett for decades. so access to equipment is possible.

my friend told me about these folks.. http://www.lindytools.com/

who make a cutter used through the head and tailored to the valve size turned with an electric drill with the engine still in the car.

has anyone done this as i am getting really keen to try it out.

PS: will i run into serious out of balance issues after doing this job
