Engine vibration when stopped 900 1996

This morning on the way to work, I was stopped at a stoplight, when all of the sudden my engine began to vibrate as though it was out of balance. It lasted about 20 second and slowly evened out. What would cause this? Could the A/C compressor coming on cause it to vibrate that badly? Or possibly a plug misfiring? I've never noticed it before. Thanks for any help.
