Almost stalls when taking foot off accelerator 200 1988

My son's 1988 245 [automatic] just came home for Spring break. I noticed that, hot or cold, sometimes when I remove my foot abruptly from the gas pedal it stumbles, one or two times it actually died but it will start right up again. If it had a carburetor I would say it was the dashpot adjustment. Is there a similar adjustment on the F/I? It is idling at just about 800 rpm, the pre-pump was replaced about 18 months ago as was the fuel pressure regulator. It turns over and starts instantly under all conditions. Plugs, wires, air filter are all current as far as maintenance. Any ideas??
