Windshield and outside trim question 700

Hi all,
Did anyone remove permanently the outside trim on their car? I am curious as to know what it looks like. If you got pics please post them.

I would like to change my windshield since it is cracked. Does anyone know if I can replace it with a newer style windshield which has the trim glued to it insteadof clipped on the body of the car like you can do on 240's?
My car is a 760 1986
