Installing aftermarket gauge and lighting 700 1987

Hi folks,

I have an old-school mechanical oil pressure gauge that I will be installing in my 740. I am still in the process of tracking down an M14->1/8NPT adapter for the gauge, but I have free time this weekend and would like to at least install the gauge and lighting, and run the tubing. The gauge will be placed near the driver's right knee.

It is a small standalone gauge, with a little 12v light bulb for nighttime running. Where should I attach the wires for the bulb?

I have located a suitable plug in the firewall where I would like to run the nylon oil hose. Will it be OK to gently zip-tie the hose to the bundles of electrical wiring that are parallel with its path?

As a side note, I am OK with losing my idiot light, but I would like to keep it if possible. I have read about using a T-connector in order to keep the stock pressure switch, but my extensive searches have turned up nothing, and I totally confused the staff of my local Autozone. Is there a special place where I could find this?

Thanks! I'm taking on this task with a sense of adventure.

Ari
