Lock out switches for an m40 to m41 conversion 120-130

This is a subject that has been written about before and I have read several threads but this has only raised new questions, to me anyway. I have read that there are better alternatives to using the stock LO switch. Chevy was mentioned and so were "many Japanese cars" but nothing specific. Does anyone have a idea as to a specific part # or make/year/model to go looking for? Also can some one explain the difference-meaning location and purpose of the lockout switch vs the reverse light switch? I assume I understand that one is to stop the car from being inadvertently shifted into reverse while the od is on and the reverse light switch is for BU lighting. Someone on another forum said that the reverse BU switch could be used instead of the lockout? This is getting confusing, is there a someone who would clarify this issue for me. Free beer if you do and you happen to be in Connecticut.
