740 Wagon rear wiper motor 700

I have this rear wiper motor out. How best to test it? There are 2 wires (+ ground). One is Y-W (and goes to a diode first);the other O-R. I can measure resistance, and /or apply +12V to these wires for testing. Don't want to do any damage though.
