*&$@$ radio code 200 1991

Disconnected the battery to do some work and of course the radio code-locked. The factory code (which I confirmed by calling a dealer and giving them the VIN) does not work. I'm letting it sit for 2-3 hrs with the key in the "I" position and the radio on to clear the EEE thing and will try it again. Maybe I did it wrong.

This is a stock AM/FM/cassette unit; I suppose it's possible that it was replaced at some point, maybe under warranty as nobody would actually buy one of these. Is it possible to change this code? I know some VW units let you do that. If that's the case then it's junk.

I know, yank it out and put in something modern, but I am taking a long road trip Monday and there's no time for parts to ship. 1600 miles with no tunes? Aaaaaaaa!
