FNG here, first post.
I'm interested in getting a nice 240, and there seem to be some locally (Northern Virginia). I'm somewhat familiar with them, as I owned a new 244DL from '83 to '87. I have time now to learn to work on cars, and the 240 seems like a good place to start.
Lurking through this site I found references to modifying the AC from R12 to R134, and I have a couple of questions about that.
1. Is it something that a new guy could try, or is this - with all the cleaning of the system - something I should farm out to a real mechanic?
2. I understand R134 is less efficient than R12, so is the converted system cool enough for the US South in the summer?
Thanks.
