My next 145 project for "Abby" is converting the original generator over to an alternator. A nice local Volvo friend donated a used but working early 240 alternator, specific year unknown. I'm going to try the conversion this weekend, but I have questions.
Below are the connection pictures for the current generator and external voltage regulator.

I've been told that with an internally regulated alternator, I can ditch that big external voltage regulator I have now. How can I tell if the alternator I have is internally regulated? Picture is below

I'm guessing that the red lead from the battery simply goes to the + terminal on the alternator, and that the ground black lead goes to the negative stud and nut on the alternator. What about that green wire on the generator? Should that go somewhere? Can anyone tell from the picture if I have an internal regulator on this alternator? Any help is appreciated, thanks!
