I'm casing a few issues with this old 740T:
First, it is a 5 speed with a hydraulic MC and a new clutch. When I took it for a root today, I found that when I stuffed my foot in it, the RPM would climb and the boost went way up, but little corresponding increase in speed. This was especially so at 50mph plus. When I got home and checked around, I could detect no smell of burnt or hot clutch. The turbo however was VERY hot. I tried to adjust the clutch, but can't, as it hydraulic. Any suggestions?
Second, should I be able to hear the in tank pup whirring when I turn thekey on, or does the car need to be running? I have an irregular miss that just started, at all speeds, and now the car won't start. The car has been sitting for several years, with infrequent starts. There was about an eighth tank of 6 year old gas in it, to which I added 50 bucks of new stuff. I changed the fuel filter under the car. When the car misses it sounds like there is no fuel, that's why I am asking about the intank pump.
There is a new battery in the car. I noticed when I got back from my short test drive that the battery is leaking fluid from the caps, like its overcharging. Does this sound as though I need a new regulator?
TIA
