Safety concerns re: worn inner tie rods 700 1987

Hi folks,

My previous post turned up a reply I did not expect - I apparently have the symptoms of a worn inner tie rod. It makes sense to me, given what I have experienced, and I would like to replace them. Looks pretty easy from the FAQ. It appears that I have a ZF rack.

After getting another family car on the road, I'm stone broke, however. What safety concerns are there for running with loose inner tie rods? They've always been loose (~1.5 years, since I bought her), and seem a little worse in the last few days (!). If it is deadly important that I fix this, I will do so, but that means I will not eat... much.

Thanks for your advice; I will follow it.

Ari
