I love this car. the drive and ride are wonderful. I have a 2000 s80 as well and I prefer to drive this one.
Question is: Has anyone experienced this issue with their vehicle or had this issue arise. I noticed the other day when inspecting the timing belt that the belt had about a 1/8" or better wobble when running. I bought this car second hand from a guy who had the last belt break and ruined the original engine. He told me without too much detail that the motor he replaced it with was a bigger one, therefore I do not know the year of the engine. Timing cover shows b6304s.I determined in my small mind that it had the wrong width belt. The belt that is on it now is about 1" wide but the drive gear an pulleys are about 1-1/4" I went to the local Volvo dealership here and they were helpful to a point. They did allow me to go into the shop and mic the idler pulley and cam gear on a 95 960 they were doing a timing belt service on. As I figured the pulley size on that one was 1". The belt over the counter from Volvo is the same with no alternates for the year. We pulled another belt from the shelf to try a different year and it was narrower. Has anyone seen this before, or do you know of a particular model with a wider (approx. 1-1/4" wide) belt. There is no telling what vehicle the motor came from. It looks older than the model of the car. I feel that if the belt took up all the available space on the pulleys and drive gear then there wouldn't be any room for it to start walking.
