Can problems with a hall sender be intermittant? 200 1983

I put a junkyard ICU on my wagon today and got the same results I've been having. It starts and runs great for a little while, basically until it warms up, then quits. It will then only start and run briefly, then, like today, would not restart at all. I don't think it's the ICU, given that 2 units give identical results. All wiring is replaced and in good shape.

If it is the hall sender, what might cause these symptoms, heat?
