I just purchased a 1987 240 wagon and I have had on four occasions where the car wouldn't start or stopped running. I can normally hear the fuel pump running in the car (no radio) so I know for sure the time it didn't work the fuel pump wasn't running. I can test the pumps to see if they are working easy enough but how do I test the pump relay? All the times fuel delivery has failed I have been driving for awhile sometimes long highway trips. Could this be the common heat failure I have had in the past with other cars? Is this common with Volvo's? After each time I let the car set for about 10 minutes and it starts up again. Twice I was at the gas pump after filling up and it wouldn't start. In the Land rover world there are cheaper replacement parts for fuel pumps (80's Caddy Pump $30 NAPA part) is there the same in the Volvo world? I looked on the site for guidance but couldn't find the answers I was looking for so any help would be great.
