So it's a 1990 245. I took it into the shop to get the center carrier bearing replaced. I asked them to look at the front end, and they found bad bearings. Now, This is my own naivety, but when I asked which ones, he said that it would be best to replace all of them. And I said ok. The next part was just poor communication... When he said "292" I was under the impression that I had asked for the new estimate of the total work he was going to do. Turned out (after it was done of course) that it was just the front bearings that was 292, he charged 211 for replacing the carrier bearing. So here's why I'm posting on bb; Is labor for inner and outer wheel bearings REALLY 200? (the price of the wheel brng kit on fcpgroton.com was 27 each. So I estimated they charged about 100 of the price to those parts.) I personally know outer wheel bearings are pretty simple so I'm somewhat confused. I have plans to ask for my parts to take them to another person to determine if all bearings needed replacing.
Should I be freaking out?
Or should I consider this reasonable...
Thanks for any input you might have. They closed already, but I will post tomorrow more details such as hourly rate i was charged and actual parts costs. But this is basically a shop on the corner in the suburbs, so I highly doubt its anywhere near 100$ per hour. Perhaps 75...
