Hey all.

Short version - old wiper motor was slow and grinding. Bought another from a newer 240 (1988+) and swapped. Fuse #2 blows. Fixed old motor's loose magnet, installed, fuse still blows. Tried installing another relay, fuse still blows. Help!

More info - I used the old wiper motor with the detached magnet for some time before replacing. The fuse never blew but could I have placed too much load on the circuit to damage something, such as the relay?

My wiper motor uses a grounding strap but the replacement one didn't and instead uses a tab that's under one of the mounting holes. Is that anything?

The wires coming from the motor's connector appear in good condition with no broken insulation. Same goes for the wires at the relay and at the wiper switch.

I checked the terminals at the connectors for continuity. I found one at the relay connector between the black and blue/yellow wires. Is this normal? Other connector terminals didn't show a short.

What was supposed to be an easy swap and repair is now a not-so-easy swap and repair.

Any advise? If I can't get this fixed, I'll have to take it to my mechanic. I'd rather make a donation to the BB.
