Clock spinning like crazy and short in fuse #5 900

I looked over the FAQ's section regarding the #5 fuse and I think my problem is different. I had the battery disconnected for about 2 weeks for interior repairs and immediately after connecting it back up the Clock is spinning like a stopwatch. I took out the #5 fuse so the Clock would stop spinning like crazy but I can't use the other functions (radio, light etc.). Every time I put the #5 fuse back in I hear 4-5 loud clicks in order then the sound goes away? I did mess with the interior light because it was shorting against the metal roof, so used electrical tape on every connection to prevent "fireworks" in the car (This is a temp. fix until I can get my new headliner in). The light housing was broken so I rigged it up for use.

Is there a way to just disconnect the interior light and keep the wires from being "hot"? I would rather do this for now if possible but I don't want the wires live and touching the metal roof.

Any help would be great.

Thanks!
