Emmisions Issues - Still 200 1993

I posted a few weeks ago regarding the emmissions failure of my 1993 240. I tested out the FPR and it is working like a dream. I wasn't able to get to my O2 sensor. I went to test the sensor the next weekend and something strange happened. I was running the car for a few minutes to warm everything up and check the diagnostics. After running pretty good, albeit running rich, for a about 10 minutes, the engine just died and will not restart.

I no longer have an emmissions problem! But I also am without vehicular transport now.

I am going to replace the O2 sensor anyway. Its pretty elderly looking and diagnostics returned 113, 212, 221 and 231. The latter 3 codes are all 02 sensor codes. Would the O2 sensor not allow the car to start, maybe by allowing too much fuel to the plugs? It does almost sound like the engine is flooded. There is a strong fuel smell at the tail pipe while trying to start the car also.

Could this be a problem with a completely blocked catalytic converter? Everytime I start the car I get a "poof" of carbon that leaves a dusting on the ground. I read a post regarding a 740 that had a blocked converter that was preventling his car from starting.

All help is much appreciated.
