Gas Filled Bumper Shocks 200 1988

1988 240 DL Wagon.

One side of the front bumper is now pushed in (kids drive the car, claim no knowledge of how it happened). So, I went to the pick n pull to get a replacement shock to swap out.

Found the right donor car, I removed bumper and unbolted everything, however the shock won't pull out of the frame. Anyone have experience with replacing one of these?
